Been busy lately but thought I'd post a quick update .. the second novel is coming along ... slowly. I have a general outline of the story but I still need to make a detailed outline before I actually get the book rolling, though I've got the first few chapters completed. Yay! Other than that, I've been doing some work on the first book - fixing any errors that were left behind in the writing, I updated the paperback cover and I've started work on the cover image for the second book which is an original image created by Steven Askew over at www.redandblackwallpapers.com specifically for the second book! Soo excited! It's gorgeous! Now, if I could just focus and get the book written I'd be in business!!
Feeling rather generous and decided to do another free promotion weekend running Aug 4th and 5th for the digital edition of Origins, available on Amazon. And .. following the free promotion period I'm dropping the price down to $0.99 because who doesn't love books for under $1?!! Also, an FYI, if you live in the United States you can sign up on Goodreads to win a FREE paperback edition of Origins - the giveaway runs from Aug 1st through the 14th and is available for US residents only. You can enter the giveaway by clicking the button below this post :)
The paperback editions of Origins is now available! I'm feeling rather generous tonight .. er, guess it's more like this morning .. and thought I'd share an excerpt from the sequel to Origins that I've been working on. The book, entitled Blood Lust, takes off directly from the ending of Origins where you get an insight into Vraiden's point of view. So, without further ado, here it is, an excerpt from Chapter One:
Before I can lose my nerve, I spin and stalk across the room to her father, the weaker of the two. Bending down, I grasp him firmly by his hair and yank him upward. He screams, the curse muffled by the duct tape covering his mouth. I shut my eyes momentarily, mentally preparing for the task at hand, and rip the tape off. “I want your daughter to hear you suffer. It’ll make this a lot more fun.” Reaching into my pocket, I extract the same pocketknife I used during Adelin and my blood letting and flick open the blade before pressing it against her father’s throat. Taking a deep breath I peer over my shoulder to where Adelin stands, chained and vulnerable. “You ready for this? Do you have a good view? Want to pick one now?” She shakes her head, desperate, as tears begin to stream down her cheeks. I think about taking the knife and ramming it into Eris’ heart .. the joy from that thought alone is enough to make me consider doing it before the reality of what would happen if I were to do such a thing sets in. Eris would kill them all .. Adelin, her mother, her father .. all of them and she would make me watch. Luc too if she found out he was outside. There’s no possible way that I would be able to watch as Adelin died, helpless to stop it. “No. Please, no. don’t make me choose. Kill me. Please, kill me instead,” she begs. “That wouldn’t be nearly as much fun, Sunshine.” Her father opens his mouth, “Adelin, don’t look. Close your eyes.” He then directs his gaze to me, looking at me with unwavering determination, and I know that he is willing to die for her, to protect her no matter the cost. I return his stare, knowing that I at least owe him the right to look into his killers eyes as he dies. Taking a deep breath I give myself over to the darkness, knowing that there will be no coming back from this. “Going once, going twice ..” I call out before slicing into his neck. The cover image for Blood Lust is now in the works, all thanks to Steven Askew, the amazing photoshop artist who did the base image for Origins. Be sure to check out the other wallpapers he has designed over at www.redandblackwallpapers.com. In celebration of Origins being published in print soon I have decided to offer the digital edition FREE from this Friday, July 27th through Sunday, July 29th! You can get your copy starting at midnight on July 27th via Amazon or by clicking the purchase button found here on the website. I received my proof copy of Origins in the mail the other day, made a few revisions to the cover (brightened the image) and interior files and have ordered another proof copy so hopefully the paperback version will be available for purchase next week!! Yippee! Soooo excited! Check out the pic below!
Just thought I'd drop in and leave a quick post/update. I've been working on getting everything ready for the print version of Origins and hope to have everything perfected and uploaded so it's ready as early as next week! I want to give another round of thank you's out (there's no such thing as too much in my vocabulary!) to everyone who has, in one way or another, supported me on my adventure even if it's only been something as simple as reading the book, adding it to their TBR piles, leaving a review, telling someone else about it.. I am grateful to each and every single one of you! I've got my trusty pen and paper sitting beside me and I'm getting ready to start writing out my detailed outline on book 2, which I've already decided to entitle as Blood Lust (A Black Novel, #2). I hope to move a little quicker with this one and have set a tentative (very tentative!) release date of January 2013 for those of you who are interested. I'd love to give you more details on it, but as of right now, I only have a general outline of the story and I don't want to give anything away...
Origins is now live on Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.fr, Amazon.de, and Amazon.it. Somehow though it still isn't available in the US where I live.. what the crap? You think that would've been the first one available!! I've contacted them about it and am now (again) waiting.. I seriously am one of the most impatient people in the world and all this waiting is killing me!! Why is Amazon so slow?!! You can (im)patiently wait for the book to become purchasable in the U.S. with me by clicking the purchase button below...
12 hours to go! Origins will officially be posted in the Kindle Store in 12 hours!! OMG! I'm soooo excited! I published a book!! Yippee!! I'd like to write more but really, that's all I've got for now. I'm so ecstatic that I can barely sit still!!
I know I just made a post about this but I was so excited and had to share.. Origins is in 1st place over at GoodReads in the Best Books of August 2012 list! 1st place baby! Yes!! Take that Onyx! Some of you may argue that only 24 people have voted on it but still, 13 of 'em voted for Origins and its not even out yet! AND, 45 people have added it to their TBR lists! As you can see, I'm very easily excited Lol. This is huge for me though. You don't understand, *I* created this from *my* imagination! How freaking awesome is that?!
I'm also 128th on the overall Best Books of 2012 GoodReads list.. which 1,690 users have voted on so neener neener. My goal is to get in the top 50 on that list. So far though I'm above Andrew Fukada, Michael Scott, Rachel Caine and Abbi Glines so I'll take that .. for now. Time to get back to my final edits.. More to come later. Figured while I had a moment to spare that I'd post an update.. To get us started here, I did an interview about Origins with Lexie over at Lexie Reads (you can view the interview by clicking the "Author Interview" button below). Next, my book was just added over at YABooksCentral - you can check it out by visiting www.yabookscentral.com and clicking the "Indie" tab across the top. And finally, Origins is #3 on a list on GoodReads and it hasn't even been released yet! Yay!! It's #3 on the Best Books of August 2012 list! I'm 2 spots up on Onyx!! Yes!! Okay, so only one person has voted on either book so far but still!! Lol
That's all I have for now, been swamped lately but plan on having my edits and final revisions/additions done in the next week. Less than a mon |
